Ishar was naturally introduced to a farming group of Ludhiana.

He constantly needed to be a warrior and joined the Punjab Frontier Force when he was around 18 years of age.

He spent most of his life on the combat zone under regimental number 165. He was drafted in the 36th Sikhs Regiment not long after it was brought up in 1887.

As indicated by British antiquarian Major General James Lunt,’ Ishar Singh was a to some degree violent character whose autonomous nature had brought him more than once into strife with his military bosses. In this manner, Ishar Singh – in camp, an aggravation, in the field glorious.’

In August 1897, 5 organizations of the 36th Sikhs lead by Lt. Col. John Haughton were sent toward the North West Frontier Province and situated at Samana Hills, Kurag, Sangar, Sahtop Dhar, and Saragarhi.

An unforeseen of the 21 Sikhs under Havildar Ishar Singh was situated at Saragarhi. The Saragarhi post, situated on a rough edge, is a little town in the fringe locale of Kohat, presently in Pakistan. This post was a correspondence post between Fort Lockhart and Fort Gulistan and was regularly focused by the Afghans and Orakzai tribesmen; as it was a key correspondence post.

On 12 September 1897, at around 9:00 am, Gurmukh Singh, a signalman of the regiment, motioned to Lieutenant Colonel John Haughton that around 6,000 to 10,000 Afghans are going towards the Fort Lockhart, notwithstanding, Haughton couldn’t do much; as he himself was attacked, and in this manner, couldn’t send any extra powers.

Despite the fact that there was no sensible method to try and give a battle, Havildar Ishar Singh and his troop took on the Conflict of Saragarhi’ to death. All the 21 Sikhs battled their hearts out and slaughtered around 200 Afghans before they capitulate to their wounds.

Clash Of Saragarhi

The 21 Sikh troopers battled around 8 hours, without nourishment and water. Notwithstanding when they came up short on ammo, they didn’t stop and finished in a hand-to-hand battle till their final gasp.

After Havildar Ishar Singh’s passing, his significant other was murdered by his sibling, who was detained at Kala Pani (Andaman and Nicobar).

Two Saragarhi Memorial Gurudwaras, one in Ferozepur and the other one in Amritsar, was made to respect the 21 Sikh troopers who had a place with the 36th Sikh Regiment.

Consistently, 12 September is praised as the ‘Saragarhi Day’ to pay tribute to the 21 fearless Sikh fighters.

After him, no one from his family joined the Army because of different reasons.
